Global Warming

These days I worry about global warming. We do make our jokes, like, my sister can have orange trees in her garden and a boat at her front door. Even for Iceland it does not look so bad in the next hundred years and my husband has been talking about buying a house in Spain in case of the next iceage.
Listening to the politicans these days, there is a big probability that this will really be necessary. In Iceland we can see the glaciers getting smaller year from year. In Austria as here in Iceland there is no more snow for skiing. After hundred years my grandchildren will probably still be alive and will witness the floods everywhere around the world. Southern India and Bangladesh will dissapear. New York, London, North Europe and many seeside cities with a less than 7 meters waterlevel will be flooded. The weather pattern is already changing. And nobody does anything. 100 years is tommorrow, not the day after.

well, do not worry yourself about that. We will adapt, humans have lived on this planet for such a long time, that a little bit of warmer climate will nto distroy us. We will just grow some "Flossen" and learn how to swim. We will build our houses on water. Things will be just fine, million years of evolution can handle 10 degrees more!

Didn't Pétur K tell us that actually things will cool down and in a couple of thousand years, we'll be able to skate across the seas to visit other countries? This makes no sense to me as it's obvious things are warming up, but perhaps things will undergo a change... I think though I'd rather freeze to death than fry to death!

First it will get warm and the glaciers will melt. The melting water will cool down the northern seas and the water streams in the big oceans will be interrupted what means that the northern hermisphere will cool down and the next ice age is round the corner...100 years for the first step some more for the second. :)
